Calling all YOUTHS with entrepreneurial spirit and a heart for the environment!

AIESEC in UKM is once again running Entrepreneurship and Youth - A Learning Network (EYLN) for the SIXTH year in a row.

The theme for EYLN this year is "GREEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP"

The three main highlights for this year's EYLN are:-


1. The EYLN 2010 Conference

From 14 - 16 May 2010, inspirational and exemplary speakers of their respective industry will share about entrepreneurship, the environment, innovation, financial intelligence, and more. Some of the speakers and categories in stored are:

2. Business Idea Competition Entrepreneurship: The Green Revolution

Submit your green business plan for this competition and stand a chance up to RM1000. Make a current business go green or even better still, create a totally new green business! A green business is one that operates in a manner that is responsible towards the environment while still being economically viable.

Get yourselves into a group of 2 -5 persons and start brainstorming away!


3. Industrial Tour + City Tour

Join us for this industrial + city tour which will take place a the day before the conference (13 May 2010). Participants will be visiting Challis Damansara, one of Sunway Groups Green Building, which is the first and only high-rise residential development in Malaysia to be rewarded with the BCA Green Mark, a recognition of best practices in environmental design and performance, followed by a round of discussion on environmental technology in year 2020. The tour will end with lunch and sightseeing around Kuala Lumpur (especially for non KL-ites and non-Malaysians). Only 30 spaces available for this tour on a first come first serve basis :)

Graduation Night

65- 31/03/2010 Graduation Night

It was AIESEC graduation night last wednesday for term 2009/2010. It was good to see everyone there and it was even great to win the Best Performing Department Award from Jing Wen. I didn't knew that ICX is able to win that award. We had been through tough times without a leader and I'm glad that we manage to pull through it and our effort was recognized by the LCP. Kudos to my beloved team mates. <3

On that night, we had an one and half hour dedication session. We wrote sugarcubes for each other and I couldn't help to agree that it was a good idea because we had the chance to say what we want to say to everyone. But, we had fun rushing each other to finish their card as we were passing the cards around. Ramiro teased Neo for writing the same sugarcube for everyone. After that, we had sharing session.

I'm now standing almost at the end of the term looking back at what I've done in the past 2 years. It was a great learning experience and it had impacted me a lot. Not forgetting that it was a great chapter of my University life so far. We have 3 more months to go and I really want to achieve the promise made in the beginning of our term.

I first joined AIESEC when I was in first year. I remember walking alone at Pusanika looking at booth where all the society post up their information. It was the Club Promotion Week after MMP. I remember that it was Anne and Sharon at the booth. My first event was AIESEC Night and it was a blast. I remember how excited I was back then after AIESEC Night. It was full of inspiration. The next inspiration I found in AIESEC was during MyLDS 08. Then, I took up the opportunity to be part of EYLN 09. It was a great experience to be part of EYLN heroes. I love my JD a lot and how EYLN connects me to where I am now. I was incharge of matching interns for the project and I'm now in the ICX department. Being an ICXer is not about matching interns, but it also puts me in the situation that require me to deal a lot with companies.

I found that all the CEOs and Managers are interesting people and they are not as scary as they seem. I enjoyed talking to them. I was offered to work in three different companies in the same year but my graduation is 2 years away.They told me that they were impressed with what AIESECers do, how we manage to juggle between studies and our voluntary work in AIESEC. It was indeed S.H.I.T(Super High Intensive Training) and I had learnt a lot from it. I mean where on earth can we have a manager sitting down with you helping you to figure out your future career path? I already had two consultation so far and it really open my view on different things. :)

I love my friends made in AIESEC, I love my interns and I love how we can connect to the world the network that we have in @. I had made friends with people from 20 different countries and I'm going to visit some of them in this coming semester break. Not forgetting my europe trip after graduation or next year during the May semester break. I guess I just need to work harder to fullfill my dream and make it come true.

I didn't continue my journey as EB next term and it was the most difficult decision so far. I had talked to so many people and got different perspective from all of them. Would like to thank them personally especially Judd and Sash who made the trouble to help me. Well, I would say that I'm looking at different perspective right now and I want something more. I'm going for Exchange this coming semester break and might be doing a part time CEEDership there. And I'm up for more challenges when I'm back from my internship. My passion towards the organization did not fade and I do want to know what is waiting for me after my internship and how I can contribute more to the organization =)

Last but not least, thanks for giving me The Presidential Award. It was very motivating and I promise that we will win something from AMAN 2010 by the end of this year. :)

My journey

I was reluctant to go at the first place but I somehow make myself pay for the conference fee and I went.

The first day was the worst day ever. wrong infomation from the OCs, sucky accomodation and the worst food ever. The UUM monkeys even stole our food in front of us. Well, these didnt improve till the end of the conference but the sessions were great !

Imagine seeing how the juniors change every single day. I had witness a few of them and I'm proud of it especially my ex-roommate. :)
I first thought MNC would be boring but it turned out great. We were all inspired and wanted to do more in the next 6 months.
I've seen how myself change in the past one year. I'm picking up pebbles all way long and I'm glad that I have my mates around me all the time supporting each other when times are bad. I'm looking forward to see what will happen in the next 6 months. :)

The story over the weekend

On friday, I recieved a mail from my intern telling me that there's typhoon in her country now and she couldnt come on sat. AirAsia didn't even announce if they are going to cancel the flight while others airline had already did their job.

On Saturday, she told me that her flight got cancel before I went for exam.
First thing came to my mind was: "Ohh..that means I dont have to go the company on Monday right ?So, should I go back home or stay at uni for next 3 days? "
Then, she told me that her fight had been changed to Sunday by AirAsia after my exam.
Me : " Okay..Now I have to go back home since I still need to go to the company on Monday."

On Sunday, I recieved her text message saying that she was stopped by the Immigration of her country. I called her and talked to her. She told me that they insist of getting an additional documents which will take another week for the process.
I called the company and explained everything to them.
The first thing came to my mind was:" Should I go back on Sunday or Monday? "
After I've decided to go back on Monday,she called me later in the afternoon saying that the Immigration officer is letting her to come on Monday.

I went speechless and came back on Sunday afternoon. I told my friend that it was god's plan to let me have a nice rest for a day."

It was fated that I have to spend few hours on monday on work afterall.

The final farewell for Year 2009

Joined the others for farewell dinner after soul therapy.

It was the farewell for the 5th batch of Red Interns from the HIV/AIDS project.

Had satay Kajang for dinner and karaoke afterthat. I think satay kajang is overrated because it is expensive not not nice at all. I prefer the seremban one. I guess the people who love satay kajang haven't tasted stay in their life before. =)

All of us get hype up when it comes to certain songs and damn we had fun! I've learned from the previous karaoke session with the interns. No excessive screaming and shouting for me this time. I lost my voice for few days last time and I dont want the same thing to happen to me again.

To Arthur ! My first intern for the project. I bet most of you had met him in my birthday party last month right ?He's leaving end of this month already but i'm not sure if I have the chance to say good by since I'm having exam on that day.

Rowena, the 19 years old girl from Hong Kong !

Raisa, the bubbly girl from Indonesia. They told me that she can shop a lot and she can sing like Rihanna and beyonce! Love her voice so much !

It's back !

20- 21/8/09- The arrival of my 4th intern !

I was excited as I didnt have any intern in the past two months at all.
I drove to airport alone as my boss forgot that he had quiz on that day.
The best thing is I've waited there for 3 hours and I didnt brought my notes along. :(
Then, we had interns' farewell for Meri, Hyun Mi and Maritte.
We went karaoke after dinner at satay kajang.
It was fun because basically people dont sing, they shout ! lol. I guess our room was the most bising room because everyone tend to peek at us when they passed by.

21- 22/8/09 Global Village

I went for Global Village as well. As you can see from my facebook album, it was awesome !

People from 107 countries wore their own traditional costumes and had exhibition there. It was fun tasting different kind of food and drinks from different countries. I met a few people there. They are either the delegates from EYLN, the locals or the friends of our previous interns. the world is so small :)

There's a lot of stories which I share here but I dont have the time to type everything.

I guess I shall share next time when I meet up with you guys. :)

Of alcohols and country presentation

Had country presentation by the red interns on monday and tuesday.

The main purpose of country presentation is to get to know their country better.

I didnt stay long on the first day but I'm glad that I made it yesterday night.

We had finnish food and drinks (including alcohol). :)

Meri was pouring the finnish drink for all of us. It tasted like chocolate with a little bit of mint and alcohol inside. Not bad though.

Then, ginger biscuit from Finland also.
Meri taught us the traditional finnish dance and Hyun Mi taught us the modern korean dance. It was pretty fun :)
Sharing session (the Canadian style- if I'm not mistaken). The trick is pass the alcohol by using your left hand and you can only hold it with your left hand. After you talk, you can choose to drink or just pass it to the person next to you. After you pass it to the person next to you, both of you need to shout "huaaahh!". But never pass it using your right hand because you will have to drink the whole bottle if you do so. Good news for alcoholic huh ?

We also had a suprise birthday celebration for our intern from Sweden.

Woke up at 5am and went to KLIA to pick up my first intern from Netherlands!

She's very very very nice and she have a very positive energy too!

I talked to her a lot and I'm having sore throat now. :(

p/s: I wonder why Malaysian is so "sua ku" because everyone was like staring at us as if they have not seen a European before !! Those arrogant pigs acted exteremely friendly. I wonder why.

MyLDS Part One

The first night of MyLDS was traffic light night. We were asked to wear only red, green or yellow t-shirt.
Red - In a relationship ; Yellow- Single but not available ; Green- Single and available.

Well, as I said before we danced a lot during MyLDS. We danced during morning plenary, after lunch, during breaks and after dinner. We called it "Square dance". Now, I'm going to present you the square dance performed by Beverlyn's university- UUM. Beverlyn is the one in green top, first row and far left.



Then, a few people volunteered to go up to the stage to play the tut-tut-train game. I tried to combine the two video together but failed. Trust me, this is not your ordinary tut-tut-train.


IT'S TIME FOR REVENGE !


By the way, we had fun watching people slapping each other. Imagine lah..Everyone cheered for you when you walked in the hall as if you are a celebrity.Then when they began to hug each other, you thought you will have the chance to hug others also, mana tau kena slap pula ! The audience did enjoyed themselves a lot ! :)

Pre-MyLDS

I signed up for MyLDS(organized by Aiesec) before my final exam knowing that I will be going there alone. Chin Choon told me that he will sign up at the first place. Mana tau dia last minute kata tak boleh.Chee yang and kai jia told me that they were actually interested in this seminar after the registration date. However, I kinda force myself out of my comfort zone and got myself back to UKM. I met Javerline on the train too! lol

During outdoor games..

The guys were building our very-tall-but-not-stable tower. The seniors tried their best to equip us with lots of knowledge so that we were well prepared for the next 6 days. Yes, we have to practise our square dance, global village performance and roll call in two days. We learn and play at the same time! very efficient right ? It was very tiring. :(

To me, the main purpose of MyLDS is to let the delegates to know each other better. We form a small bond among us and this bond will eventually grow stronger as we spend more time together.
