To start a new chapter of life. I'm done with my 4 months industrial training yesterday. I learnt a lot from the company. The presentation ends well as we were praised by the GM and President.Wheeee...
Below is the picture of our supervisor. We are very close to her as we go lunch together every day and we enter the company at almost the same time.

I didn't get to say goodbye to the workers and the staff, which I regret for not doing it properly. But, I believe that we will meet again soon since I will be back to that area on friday. =)

I believe that May will be good.

D105- Half page left.

You see the card above? It's 15th April today. That means 2 more weeks till my internship end! Wheeee...It doesn't end here because I found a job which requires me to work from 6th -19th of May and I will leaving the country on 19th of May ! This is madness wey. The best thing is my internship ends on 3rd of May, which means I will only have 2 days of freedom. :( I have no idea on how to choose between travel fund and freedom.
I'm currently doing my internship report for my university and I find it difficult to convey my ideas into words. fml because our uni supervisor might use the report to grade us.

p/s: There's so many opportunities/things to do in May-Sept period and I have trouble in deciding which is the best for me. Should I just apply for all of them and decide later when I recieve their reply? Or should I consider it properly before sending in my application? How does another internship at different field sounds to you? Hmmmmm.

D88- It's a happy day.

Today is a happy day because the trainee's favourite worker is back! He was suppose to go back to his home country two weeks ago. But today, when I was cutting the cheese, I saw the familiar sanitizer bottle and when I look up, I saw the familiar face again. Everyone was surprise to see him again. It ended up that he's going to stay for another two weeks. lol.

Me, the other intern and my supervisor were cutting cheese and one of the worker actually ask for me from far. My supervisor was wondering why is the worker looking for me instead of her. I was curious too. When I ask him the reason, he actually said 'It's already 5pm, go home!' I went =.='''''

The people there are getting easier to work with and I have a feeling that I'm going to miss most of them soon.

I'm happy today, despite the numb thumb.

D85- I did sensory test

Yeap! I did sensory evaluation on their new product and gave comments yesterday. They are going to develop a series of ready to eat meal for Malaysian market. It is very popular in most country but not in Malaysia.

We were given a new case study on wednesday where we need to make sure half batch (350kg) of the chicken meat is within the specs(55-70g). We went in to the production site and start weighing the chicken at around 820am and we took 4 hours to complete half batch. Imagine the initial target was one batch of chicken which is 700kg of chicken meat. Actually we could have save all these trouble if the primary production site personnel did everything properly. They didn't weigh the chicken according to the required specs. That's why the four of us need to do everything all over again. However, we didn't manage to get the result because they will only run our chicken for the last batch which is at night. :(

Besides the case study, I'm still developing SOP and WI. The progress is very slow because the-person-everyone-is-afraid-of(some people even call her hantu) is always at the production site lately. She said that we shouldn't be taking pictures of the production site because it is violating the P&C etc. She will go on and on with her own assumption. Everyone in the production site hates her. Ugghh. I will only bring the camera in for SOP purpose. I'm not interested with all the equipments and set up at all. Remember the colleague I mentioned earlier? She took her camera in and took pictures and videos of every single equipment inside. When I ask her if she's going to develop the SOP for that particular machine, she didn't really answer my question. And she nearly get us in trouble on wednesday when she was taking video of the machine and the hantu pass by.  Sigh..Sometimes it is not that good to be brave. lol

D68- Why so serious?

It had been two months since I last blog about my internship. Glad that I had survived more than two months there. Guess what I did today? I taught the workers how to pose for  pictures which is going to use for SOP and WI. Glad that they are getting more and more friendly as time goes by. When they are good to you, they tend to bully and play with you more. Some of them came to work when they were 16 years old. and At least going to work doesn't seem as boring as it was earlier. Yes! Because I'm willingly to go inside the site at 8am and come out at 5pm. I received a  <s>I-don't-know-how-should-I-respond comment from the other intern from fpp.</s> I was asking her if we should take another picture of the process to show more detailed steps. Do you know how she answered me? She said 'Why are you so serious about the assignment given?' I was like are you kidding me? It is an assignment given to me and I just want to do my best.  And now you are asking why am I so serious about it?  Besides that, we are talking about SOP. People are suppose to understand all the procedures by just reading it.

P/s: Since I'm able to use camera inside, perhaps I can show you some pictures soon as long as it is not P&C. :)

D47-I hate maths and graphs :(

I received a new task last week which requires me to do lots of calculation and come out with graphs for the ISO audit. I had spent days amending the report because every time after I finish my task, they will request me to add more detail and data. Yeah..working here is all about details. I have another task which is to discover the lost yield of the chill product. What we did is to weigh the product at every process to find out what's the cause of it. Unfortunately the case study somehow failed because the night shift people didn't get the data for the last few steps. fol.

The workers here are getting more and more friendly and approachable. Sometimes, its weird to see them chasing each other like small kid as they are all adults.They like to make fun of each other and that's the funny part.

On the other hand, I was asked to generate report every week for the weekly meeting. But, my manager somehow has forgot about it.<s>thank god!</s> lol. I don't really like sitting in the office for too many days. Going to the site to walk around is much better than sitting in the office and face the laptop all the time <s>especially when facebook is so boring and there's no one to talk with online</s> But, once I'm glued to the seat, I'm lazy to pick myself up to go to the sites. ugghh

I'm already here for 1 and half month. Can't wait to finish the other 2 months and execute my plan for the next 4 and half month.

p/s: If I manage to enjoy myself for the next two months, I believe that timw will pass very fast. =)

D21- Lackofatitle

I'm dying for january to end. I have to drag myself to work everyday. All of us agreed on that. I had new task now but I'm still blur about the overall JD. I expected a challenging work ahead but nothing happened since yesterday. Perhaps I should wait. My manager asked me the same question 5 times yesterday. "What have you learn today?' I seriously don't know how to answer him because the person who was suppose to teach me didn't get to teach me and the computer broke down yesterday. They tried to explain about their computer system to me but I still can't get the whole concept. It is so confusing. I have only one week to learn and I have to take over their job. I think I'm going sabaw soon.

We were saying that our JD didn't match our field of study. I think everyone can do production and they dont need food science background except for GMP. The other intern told me that her friends are doing mechanic work now because they study about machine too. ftl.

I think student life is still the best because we get enough holiday for festive season. You have no idea how difficult is that to get 2 days off from the company. =(

D16- I can show you pictures!

I was at the other branch earlier where I can bring my mobile phone in. The department which I currently work at doesnt allow us to bring anything in. Yeap, so I can't show all of you pics from there. Gotta show you how cold the place is. hahaa.

This is me in the astronaut uniform which I mentioned earlier. It doesn't matter what I wore to work because I need to wear this uniform and sweater for sure. If not, I can't survive for a day.

This is the door to the cold room where they keep all the finished product. The temperature is -18 degree and below. Can you see the ice accumulating from outside of the door?

If you look at the ceiling properly, you will notice there's something there. And when it fell, it's like snowing in the room. It looks exactly like the snow I saw at Japan years ago.

Now, I can experience winter at Malaysia everyday. No. It's not something to be proud of. It had been 3 hours since I came back from office and I felt that I'm still in thawing mode. =(

p/s: I'm working on a task right now which requires me to stay in a super cold condition. Hope that I can survive the whole process instead of falling sick. tell more soon! 

D13 - I froze my own fingers

I was helping the supervisor to unpack the products from the old packaging and pack it to a new one. But, those product had been in the freezer for I-dont-know-how-many-months. When I was packing the sausages, I felt my fingers went numb and I thought that I froze my fingers. wtf. Maybe one packet wont affect much. But, think of around 20 crates of frozen food. Then, I choose to open up the packaging and let the others do the packing. lol. I'm anticipating tomorrow because they are going to make smoke duck! I wonder how are they going to do it. Sigh I wish that I have time to go and see the process of deboning the whole duck as they only do it once a month. Remember I said that we are like the supervisors earlier? Supervising is so boring because what you do is observe and observe. I do help out a little bit but I'm refraining myself from doing too much because I don't want to be cheap labour. Those makcik is getting smarter in ordering us around <s>doing their job</s> helping them out. The three of us might have different lunch time soon due to our different in workload. =(

D8- We got promoted !

Yes! You got it right. We met the GM earlier and he spoke to us. He asked us not to treat ourselves as practical student but as employee as the company. You might wonder what's so special about that. Hold on. He said he's going to let us experience ourselves as supervisors ! We get to overlook the whole plant production. JW who is the only male intern got promoted as assistant manager. *woot*  He's going to help the plant manager as his assistant because they couldn't find someone for the position. Hence, he will be the one until they find someone to fill the position. But, I'm going to be another plant site and I will be working with a Thai supervisor. Hence, the idea of learning thai language pops up. I'm glad that we were given such opportunities despite the fact that the company is world second largest in poultry industry. And now who says that we couldn't learn in big company again?

D6- Thousand of sausage appear in front of me

I'm no longer looking forward for Friday because I have to work whole day on Saturday. fml We had training on planning and we get to go into further processing yesterday. By the end of the day, we smell like sausages and fried chicken. We spent the whole day observing how sausages and fried chicken is made. I will never eat processed food again after looking at the whole process. I'm not sure if I can tell the ingredients and the processes involved because it is p&c for the company. But, if you dont want to eat a certain food, go see how the food is produce. Then, you will never eat it again. Processed food is bad for our health because you can never imagine what they add into the food just to make more profit for the company. Hence, if you really need to buy processed food, perhaps you should pay more money for higher quality food so that you can live longer. 

Speaking of the uniform, we have to wear like ninja. We can only judge people by looking at the color of the uniform and head scarf. We always said that we look like some taliban thief when we were wearing our uniform. lol. Will post up picture if I have chance to bring my camera to the production site. Every time when we need to go to toilet/to drink water, we need to take off everything and sanitize ourselves so that we wont contaminate the food.

We ended our first week with a small talk with the manager. From there, I realized that how @ has prepare me for the future. I had spent two years dealing with people from different level and background. He was telling us that it is important to learn the art of dealing with people from different level and background which I agreed with. Sometimes, necessary is training is needed so that you can talk to them like your friend. lol. He also ask 'what will you do if I offer you a position as assistant manager of the department?' I didn't really answer his question because like I said earlier, this field is not what I want to focus at in the future. In my opinion, nothing beat the job description because the first job will determine the type of job that you will apply after that.

As for the next week, we will have our final training at the warehouse and we will be looking at special project for Sg KFC which will be quite interesting I guess. Hope that the internship gets better from time to time. haha.

D3- I has chicken poo on my outfit

Nah..Not really on my outfit but on the plastic that covers my uniform.
They send us to the back of the factory where the recieving bay is located today. We were at low risk area. Basically, it is the place where you can see the chicken tranformed from a live bird to a whole leg chicken. The whole scenario is bloody.  I'm very thankful because we dont have to do anything other than observe and understand the whole process. So, if you are wondering why the chicken poo on me, do see the picture below.

The chickens came in trays like the one we saw at market. There's a few worker incharge of hanging the chicken on the moving steel. So, while the rest were waiting for their turn, these chicken will splash their shit on the floor. I don't understand how it happened but you can see chicken poo flying off from the crate very often. And that is how I kena as I was standing too near to the crate. Other than that, I had chicken drips over my uniform and also head scarf. I can't really decribe what I saw in words. But, today is indeed an eye opener. It's good to see things run in large scale. They let us take the chicken faeces sample from their anus before the chicken were sent to the slaughter man. And we helped in yield analysis before we went home. Yield analysis of chicken is not easy at all. We have to weigh the chicken after the chicken had gone through every single steps. It is very detailed. very very detailed. hahaha. Need very good cutting skill for that too. I think I can slaughter a chicken all by myself four months later if I need to do the analysis all by my own. lol.

It's good to be involve in the operation and observe all the procedure. Oh yeah. we recieved our first task today! that is develop SOP and WI for certain product! haha. It will be interesting. lol

I will be spending whole day tomorrow at a place where the temperature is below 12 degree. Perhaps I can tell more if I have pictures with me/when you see me next time =)

Day 2

And I realized that Food Science is a big no for my future.
I also wonder how am I going to survive the next four months. lol
I was right earlier but I didn't know that I'm that right.
Dang! The girl who had been there for 3 weeks told us her JD for the past 3 weeks and I'm worried about my next few months. I can't imagine myself sitting in the lab trying to solve the project given. My supervisor said that he will not prefer us to be in the same project/site and that means that we have to handle our project alone. The girl also said that the manager has very high expectation on us.
I hope that the next four months will end peacefully so that I can focus on my future career path later. Perhaps another  internship in another field might help.

Yesterday was just medical checkup and injection. Today, they gave us briefing on personal hygiene, SOP and also expectation setting. Phew. I wonder how many times I need to sanitize myself every time I enter the factory site. Expectation setting was the part that woke me up immediately.

p/s: I'm going into the slaughter house tomorrow. No more sitting at aircon room for briefing. I will tell you how it it feels to see so many chicken being slaughtered infront of me.
